Staff & Faculties
The school behind the school
12 men and women who never take a class, and without whom no class could be taken. They drive the buses, keep the records, mend what breaks and watch the gate — so that a teacher can walk into a room and simply teach.
Why It Matters
A school day is built long before it begins
By the time the first bell rings, a dozen quiet decisions have already been made for a child — that the bus came, that the gate was watched, that the classroom was clean, that the file with their name on it was where it should be.
None of that work is taught, examined or applauded. It is simply expected — and at St. John’s it has been delivered, morning after morning, by people who treat the school as their own.
“No work is insignificant. All labour that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance.”
Our students are asked to greet the driver, thank the helper and respect the guard at the gate, because a Johnian is measured by how they treat the people who are not in a position to grade them. The roll below is published in that spirit.

What We Ask of Them
Four things no appointment letter can specify
A post can be described on paper. The manner in which it is held cannot — and it is the manner that a school full of children actually notices.
There first, there last
The gate is open and the campus ready long before the first child arrives, and it is closed only once the last has gone home.
Safety, without exception
Every journey, every gate, every corridor. A parent who leaves a child here in the morning has been promised something, and it is kept.
Kind to a child in trouble
A lost bag, a missed bus, a scraped knee. Very often the first adult a child turns to is not a teacher at all.
Pride in the ordinary
A swept corridor, a repaired desk and a file found in a minute are small things done well — which is the whole of the work.
Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.
Every name on the roll below has been trusted with somebody’s child — on a bus at dawn, in a corridor at noon, at the gate when the school empties. That trust is the real qualification, and this school has never treated it lightly.

A school is only as good as its quietest worker
For anything to do with fees, records, transport routes or certificates, the office is the place to begin — and it will be glad to hear from you.
