Learning Resources
What the school puts behind a lesson
A smart board in the classroom, four laboratories down the corridor, a library at the end of it — and a record system that puts the morning's attendance in a parent's pocket before lunch.
At a Glance
Nine resources, in daily use
Not a wish list — these are the rooms and systems a Johnian passes through in an ordinary week.
Digital smart classrooms
Lessons that can be seen as well as heard — a board, a projector and a teacher who can bring the diagram up on screen.
School library
Academic titles, storybooks, encyclopaedias and a reference area, with reading tables for a whole class at once.
Science laboratory
Apparatus, chemicals and demonstrations for the SEBA and AHSEC practical syllabus.
Mathematics laboratory
Manipulatives and collaborative activities that turn an abstract idea into something a pupil can hold.
Computer laboratory
An air-conditioned laboratory with net computing, timetabled across every section of the school.
Online teaching
The school runs an online teaching platform alongside the classroom, used when a class cannot meet in person.
RFID attendance
Attendance is recorded at the gate as students tap in, and reaches the parent the same morning.
The school app
Results, attendance, notices and fees for each student, in the parent's hand.
Website and ERP
The Academica ERP holds admissions, attendance, fees, results and the parent portal behind this website.
In the Classroom
A lesson you can see
The school's digital classrooms put a screen where the chalkboard used to be — and keep the chalkboard too.
Smart classes carry the diagram, the map and the worked example that a textbook can only describe. They are timetabled across the primary, secondary and higher secondary sections, so no class relies on them alone and no class goes without.

Laboratories
Four rooms where the theory gets tested
Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Mathematics — each with its own room, its own apparatus, and a place at the bench for every pupil in the class.

The Library
Where the reading actually happens
A well-stocked library with academic titles, storybooks, encyclopaedias and a reference area — and long tables enough to seat a class.
Library periods are timetabled from the primary section upwards. For the Arts stream in particular, the reference shelves do a quiet share of the teaching.

Online Teaching & Records
The school runs on Academica
Admissions, attendance, fees, results, the parent portal and the school app all sit on one system — which is why a mark entered by a teacher reaches a parent the same day.
RFID attendance at the gate
Students tap in as they arrive; the register is closed before assembly ends.
Online teaching platform
Run by the school's IT partner alongside the classroom timetable.
One record per student
Attendance, examinations and fee history, held together rather than in four registers.
