Academic
Twelve years, one continuous arc
From a three-year-old's first morning in the play school to an AHSEC science practical in Class XII, the academic programme at St. John's is one unbroken line. This section sets out every part of it.
The Programme
Taught in English, examined by SEBA and AHSEC
With the exception of Assamese, Bodo and Hindi, every subject at St. John's is taught in English — and every stage follows a syllabus set by a body that will one day examine the child.
The school runs the whole span itself: pre-primary and primary on the school's own and the Diocese of Bongaigaon's syllabus, Classes IX and X on SEBA's, and Classes XI and XII on AHSEC's, across the Science, Commerce and Arts streams. A child who joins in the play school need not leave Barama again until they have their Higher Secondary certificate.
Assessment runs on the CCE framework — two semesters, a unit test in the middle of each, weekly class tests set by the subject teacher, and grades that count conduct, initiative and work experience alongside the mark sheet.
